Reach for your Hand

Reach for Your Hand
By: J. M. Vera

My hand searches for your fingertips,
My eye looks for your curved hips,
The sad clouds cry storms for me.
Unknown caller ID…
“He…” “WAKE UP!”… Here comes the apocalypse…

The poem entitled Reach for your Hand is a limerick poem, and is the first ever attempt by Justin to try to tell a story in something so short. The purpose of this poem was mainly to entertain. The poem is basically a dream, where the persona is dreaming of someone he cannot find when… a unknown call comes in, as he is about to answer a loud shout wakes him up. It should be inferred that it is his mother calling and she most likely is not in a good mood if he is saying “Here comes the apocalypse”. A limerick poem has a rhyme scheme of AA-BB-A and is meant to be humorous or ironic. In the poem itself the most notable literary devices are: Personification, and Alliteration.
