Biking to Xunantunich Archeological Reserve

Image
I made it to Xunantunich! In the morning I recorded mass at JP2 and at the end it started raining. I was sad that my plans would change. I decided to test the waters and go for a short ride to see how things were. As I kept riding the weather improved and I took the ferry across the river. I made my way up to the ruin. I had been riding for a while when I felt a few raindrops. I decided to take shelter under a tree that was covered with "matapalo". Cars passed me by as I sheltered from the rain and drank Lala yogurt and ate BBQ Pringles. After a while, I saw the rain turn into a drizzle and eventually become no more than a mist. I thought I had a long way to go yet and began uphill riding. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had already made it to the parking lot. I had to leave my bike there. I walked around a bit, sat on the root of a big tree and kept snacking for a while as I looked around and saw many tourists and their tour guides explaining the history and archite...

Last year's goals

Image
This post is coming out too late, but I have been really busy with work and my personal life. I finally made time to write on my dormant blog. Last year I set a few goals and in this post I'm going to tell you how it went.  In 2020 I ended the year and did what I heard may people do to accomplish things. I wrote down my goals. The goals I had for 2021 were: Get to 75 blogposts (COMPLETED) Get to 50 videos to YouTube (COMPLETED) Get 50 subscribers on YouTube (ACHEIVED) Get to 10 episodes on Podbean (INCOMPLETE) Get one published book by 2025 (IN PROGRESS) The last is more of a long term goal that I want to accomplish. Sadly I did not complete all my goals for 2021. Recording episodes for my podcast became more of a chore than something enjoyable. I think I disliked doing it when I stopped playing the intro music. So I stopped recording podcasts.  Check out my YouTube Channel if you want to hear the old podcasts and see what I have made lately.  CHECK IT OUT HERE

Biking to Benque Viejo Archaeological Reserve

Image
I bought a hardtail mountain bike last year.  I didn't understand how to shift the gears well and my resistance was very low. Recently I have been practicing more and I have learnt how to shift gears and my resistance has gone up. I have made it to Ka'ana and back. Last year I planned this and now I have resolved to bike to as much ruins in Belize as possible. I started easy with the Archeological site right here in Benque. I did that back in January. For February I'm planning to go to Xunantunich. Keep reading my future posts to stay informed of my progress.

Three pigeons watching a procession

Image
Were perched on a phone wire I saw them from afar when my gaze moved from the corpse We walked at a pace that made you really enjoy your surroundings They probably didn't have that in mind and just wanted all the old people to keep up I hate walking like if I'm walking to the bathroom holding it in We get to cover so little ground when we walk like that They probably didn't think it through when they started processions "I think those people are chasing that car!" cooed the first pigeon "We need to help them catch it, maybe they'll give us food!" cooed the last pigeon "They are walking behind the car, one of their own has died I was told of this strange behavior by my mother" cooed slowly the middle perched pigeon
